iMac won’t boot but I can hear a small noise from the back.

My iMac shows no signs of power other than I light noise left to the Apple logo on the back. I’ve tried ram swap with no luck. Power button feels off so I’m thinking I put could be that, any ideas?

Disconnect the AC power cord, now press and hold the power button for a good 15secs. Now with everything else disconnected (other than the keyboard and mouse if USB). Plug the power cord back in. Do make sure the outlet you are using is working and if you have a spare power cord give it a try as well. Hit the power button any change?

@samm_ At this point you’ll need to open the system and check the onboard diagnostics LEDs. Follow this guide to Step 4 Installation de l'écran de l'iMac Intel 21,5" EMC 2428

Very carefully upright the system on to its foot making sure not to pull the display forward yet! You might find an elastic shock cord which it under tension crossing the display with a clean micro cloth helps here. I use two cords setup top to bottom from each side. You don’t want to touch the unprotected screen.

The reason for this care is the display cables are not very long and if you pull on them you will damage the socket on the logic board.

OK, we are upright now what? Plug in the power cord and press the power button as you do look behind the display in the middle part of the logic board do you see a glow there are four LEDs which are numbered from the from left to right 1 - 4. Looking down from the front what do you see you will need to pull the display forward a bit just don’t go to far!
