1. Check Physical Connections
Cable and Adapter: Ensure that the cable and any adapters used to connect the external display are properly connected and not damaged. Try using a different cable or adapter if possible.
Ports: Verify that the ports on both the device and the external display are clean and undamaged. Sometimes debris can interfere with the connection.

2. Power and Display Settings
Power Cycle: Turn off both the computer and the external display. Then, power them back on to see if the display is recognized.
Display Input: Ensure that the external display is set to the correct input source.

3. System Preferences (macOS) / Display Settings (Windows)
macOS: Go to System Preferences > Displays and check if the external display is listed. You can try pressing the "Detect Displays" button if available.
Windows: Right-click on the desktop, select Display settings, and check if the external display is recognized.

4. Update Software and Drivers
macOS: Ensure that you have the latest macOS updates installed. You can check for updates in the App Store under the Updates tab.
Windows: Check for updates through Windows Update. Also, update the graphics drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
