Sporadic charging after battery replacement

I just finished replacing the battery in my Pixel 7 Pro, and I fear I screwed up something serious. At first when I put everything back together, everything seemed to be fine, but when I plugged it in to charge, the phone began to act like it was being rapidly plugged in and unplugged. Because it vibrates when being plugged in, it was almost constantly vibrating. I tried carefully applying pressure to different parts of the charging cable to see if it was a contact problem but that didn’t change anything. Anyone have any idea of what’s going on and how I should go about this? Any information helps.
