Well, on my ipod 3rd gen it is really hard to do ANYTHING with it some of the problems are:
the "i" key wont work on it and also the "8" key but, when i can turn the keypad all of they keys work.
i have only had this ipod for about 1 year if that helps at all and i have never dropped it. so, that is not the case

john, if the keypad works with rotation, than you have bad spots on your digitizer that will always be in the location. This is indicative of a broken digitizer. Follow this guide to repair it. the assembly is available at places like this. Hope this helps, good luck.
