What can I upgrade on my laptop?

I bought my laptop at Walmart recently and I want to give it a boost. I use it for working at home and a little bit of Minecrafting with my son. I am worried that the Minecraft game will bog it down over time and I don't want to do that nor do I want to buy a whole other laptop.
Here are the specs from Walmart:

  • HP 15.6" Laptop with micro-edge Full HD anti-glare display
  • Windows 11 Home, 12th Generation Intel Core i5-1235U Processor, Intel Iris Xe Graphics
  • 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 solid-state drive
  • Up to 10 hours video playback battery, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 wireless card
  • HP True Vision HD camera with AI noise removal, HP Fast Charge quick charging

What can be upgraded on it? Where do I buy the parts for it?

The laptop's memory, CPU and GPU specifications already equal or better the recommended system requirements¹ for the game.

Intel i5-1235U vs Intel i7 6500u

Iris XE vs GTX940M GPU, Iris XE vs Radeon HD-8570D GPU

You could upgrade the memory as the laptop supports up to 32GB of DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz SODIMM ram over 2 ram slots i.e. 2 x 16GB modules as guaranteed by this supplier (not that you have to purchase from them).

If you decide to upgrade the ram, here's the maintenance and service guide taken from this support webpage for the laptop that will help. Go to p.31 to view the procedure to remove/replace the memory modules.

Performance wise there's nothing besides the memory that can be upgraded as the GPU is integrated with the CPU and it is hard mounted on the motherboard i.e. non removable.

Depending on your requirements you could increase the storage by replacing the 256GB NVME SSD with a larger capacity 2280 M.2 PCIe3x4 NVMe SSD e.g. 512GB or even 1TB (not sure if these require a heatsink but if they do there mightn't be enough space for it to be inserted)

I guess it may come down to how much you want to spend.
