Computer got wet, screen is dead

Hey all,

Two days ago I dropped my MacBook pro a1286 into a rain puddle. After turning it on (like an idiot) I discovered it was working perfectly. I shut it down and let it dry but once again (like an idiot) turned it on after an hour. Computer went on but the screen is dead.

Now it is 60 hours later and the computer still goes on. When I plug an external screen into it it works like a charm. So obviously when I turned the computer on I killed my screen.

Wanted to know if I could replace the screen myself or if I should try replacing the cable? Has anyone replaced a screen on one these guys and if so how and using what resources? Also let me know if the screen not going on is an indicator of a larger problem. Feel free to call me a jerk for turning it on, but also please give advice!

Thanks,

Milo

There are 19 Macs in the A1286 model line. Please give us the last three figures of your serial number to narrow it down. Thanks

First stop turning it on and get the battery out and dry it.
