Phone was very slow to charge and seemed to run through the battery fast. I bought another battery just so i could go throughout the day with power. Charging would take almost all night so it was about battery management. About the same time I couldn't get the phone to connect to my computer to download pics/videos or documents. Computer wouldn't recognize the phone. So I had to download Samsung Link to do all my transfers. It worked well but took a lot of time to do and duplicate files would be a problem. I also bought a new charging adapter along with cables for all the reasons above. That didn't fix the issues either. After a lot of research, I finally came across an article/blog about changing the charging port. It was inexpensive and looked relatively easy to change through YouTube video. I also changed the SIM / SD card ports as well.
The repair went without a hitch. Very simple and did not take much time at all. I was careful and methodical, but anyone could do this repair.
Truthfully, I was reluctant to change parts on my phone for fear of losing the information. Since I couldn't hook it up to the computer to back the phone up, I just didn't want to risk it. Finally I just got to the point of either buying a new phone or take the chance of the repair. I would recommend trying the hardware repair of this type, as information is not stored here. I did charge up both batteries, however, so that in case of a further charging problem (or not working at all) I would have some time to still use my phone and figure out options.
