iPhone 5 Lightning Connector and Headphone Jack Replacement

Difficult

Mon problème

My beloved phone — I've had it for years and I couldn't bear to chuck 'er in once the charger started to go. I decided to stretch myself, put my money where my mouth was, and crack open my own baby.

Ma solution

This was by far the most comprehensive repair I've done. After almost 80 screen repairs on various devices, this one was one of the more grueling. You gotta take everything out of the rear case besides maybe the side button controls and the vibro. EVERYTHING else comes out. If you're patient, and you've got an evening to kill, it's actually not so bad. Just remember to stretch and take bathroom breaks, haha.

Mon conseil

Go slow. There's a lot of parts and screws, some of which you won't have seen before if you've only done screens in the past. Have a flathead screwdriver available for the standoff screws, and proper anti-ESD precautions in place when handling the logic board. I used finger stalls, an anti-ESD wrist strap, and lots of anti-static plastic surfaces.
