Background Information
Not to be confused with openSUSE Linux, SUSE Linux is a German computer operating system based on the free and open-source Linux kernel. SUSE is an acronym for "Software und System-Entwicklung," which translates to software and systems development.
The first release of SUSE Linux was released in 1994 with the help of Slackware's founder Patrick Volkerding, and acted as a German translation of Slackware's scripts. However it wasn't until 1996, after the distribution pivoted to using Jurix scripts, that the distribution was distributed under the name SUSE Linux.
SUSE Linux was published under SUSE Linux 4.2 as a reference to "The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
