Introduction
Use this guide to enter error code mode and field service mode on select GE washing machines. These built-in diagnostics can help you confirm faults such as water supply problems, door lock errors, and out-of-balance conditions before you replace parts.
-
Étape 1 Prepare the washer
-
Unplug the washing machine for about five minutes and then reconnect power.
-
Ensure the display is blank and no cycle is running before proceeding.
-
-
Étape 2 Enter error code mode
-
Press and hold the Start/Pause button for 10 seconds until the display lights up.
-
Release the button when the first stored code appears.
-
-
Étape 3 Read stored error codes
-
Press Start/Pause again to cycle through each stored error code.
-
Two horizontal lines on the display mean you have reached the end of the list.
-
-
Étape 4 Exit error code mode
-
Press any button on the right side of the control panel except Start or Power.
-
Confirm the display shuts down and the washer exits error code mode.
-
-
Étape 5 Match the displayed code
-
Compare the code on the display with GE's fault list.
-
Use that code to focus your troubleshooting before replacing parts.
-
-
Étape 6 Enter field service mode
-
Press and hold the Start button while rotating the selector knob 180 degrees counterclockwise.
-
Release Start when the display begins flashing.
-
-
Étape 7 Run a service test
-
Turn the knob clockwise to increase the test number or counterclockwise to decrease it.
-
Press Start once to begin the selected test.
-
-
Étape 8 Exit service mode
-
Press and hold Start/Pause for 10 seconds to reset the washer.
-
Confirm the display returns to normal operation afterward.
-
-
Étape 9 Check consumer help alerts
-
Check for alerts such as H2O Supply when water flow is restricted or turned off.
-
Watch for a door alert if the washer does not sense a closed or locked lid.
-
If the spin light blinks, rebalance the load and inspect for out-of-balance conditions.
-
If the display shows Cancelled, close the lid and try again, or power-cycle the washer if needed.
-
-
Étape 10 Record the results
-
Record the stored codes and any service-test results before making repairs.
-
Use the stored codes and service tests to narrow the fault before replacing parts. Exit diagnostics when you're done and return the washer to normal operation. Repair didn't go as planned? Ask our Answers community for help.
