Hi, my name is Alex
I'm not sure how haikus work
But I think this counts
As my haiku clearly explained, my name is Alex. I wanted to lead with that poem, because I think that it tells you more than just that about me. For example it tells you I'm the kind of person so desperate to not fit in I would start my Bio with a haiku. And then try to make myself feel smart by acknowledging that desperation in my next paragraph.
I came from the Bay Area. I moved to SLO when I was 18 to go to community college here in SLO. That lasted a semester before I realized that I sucked at college and was wasting my parent's money and my time. So then, with an over developed Steve-Jobs complex, I applied for a job here at iFixit. I got the job, packing shipments.
You found me here because of the work I've done at iFixit. I'm glad you like it, or sad that you hated it so much you needed to read more about that guy who failed you. Maybe you have used the Thirsty Bag that I designed, or read a post I wrote on our blog. Or maybe I answered a question on our forums. It's hard for me to know how you found me, because I do plenty of different things around the office. Practically all of the above. Unless the metaphorical above list actually exists, then it's not original enough for me to work on.
This is becoming ramble-y. So I'll end it here.

Réponse à : « prefurbished RROD xbox from ebay »Reflowing is your best option. Its pretty easy, and we've got a guide for it here.
Réponse à : « Why do we have to remove the warranty sticker? »According to Step 3 of the Motherboard Guide, there is a warranty sticker covering a screw. If you want the rear case off, so must go that sticker.
Réponse à : « How many is too many charging cycles for a laptop battery? »For our stocking purposes, after about 200 cycles you'll see decreased performance and over 500 may need to be replaced. But this is mostly bad info. What you really want to look at, are the mAh (milliAmp hours) numbers you included which is basically a count of the number of electrons that the battery can contain. So your battery can hold ~75% of the electrons it used to be able to. It should be replaced, if possible.
Réponse à : « Has anyone actually put a CDMA back on a 4s? »The CDMA panel mostly fits on to the 4S. The CDMA panel does not align perfectly, as you can see in the photo. But it is enough that it will screw in place, and won't interfere with the camera. Note that the model numbers on the rear panel are not the same as the 4S. click to view large
Réponse à : « Liquid spill results in extremely dim screen, how to fix? »I don't know why the repair shop jumped to a logic board issue. I would assume your backlight LED driver broke. It is extremely common problem in almost all laptops, and can easily be caused by liquid damage. I believe (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) the LED driver board on this machine is part of the LCD, which will need to be replaced if the LED driver board is broken. We have the guide for the entire Display Assembly. Getting the LCD out of the Display Assembly is likely going to cause some irreversible cosmetic damage, I would recommend replacing the whole thing. EDIT: This computer has an LED backlight, so no inverter.
Réponse à : « After Display change display is only white »Was the phone off when you did the exchange? If the phone was just asleep, it can sometimes need to be reset to work with a new LCD. Turn the phone off with the working LCD, then do the swap. If the phone was off and power cycling doesn't fixing the problem you may have bought a bunk Display. Where did you buy the Display? If it was from us, contact firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a return.
Réponse à : « Docking port corroded by water. »First things first, hopefully it isn't too late. Get the phone dry. Not just the outside, but everything inside too. This means you'll need to open the phone, and dry it out some how. A good way is to leave it in a bag of uncooked rice for about 24 hours. After you are completely sure the phone is as dry as the Sahara desert, try turning it on again. If it still doesn't turn on, You'll need to start replacing parts. Here are the first few I would suspect: (1) Dock Connector (2) Battery (3) Display Assembly (4) Logic Board (bad news) If it is the logic that went bad, then your best opportunity is to sell the working parts on eBay and using the money to buy a new phone. EDIT: Don't use a hair dryer (or other heat source) to dry the phone, or you'll just ruin your phone.
Réponse à : « My freezer stop freezing »Is the Fridge still getting power? Are the lights on etc. If it is, sounds like there is an issue with the compressor, perhaps the motor went bad. If there is nothing powered, there may be a power management issue or there could be no power coming from the wall.
Réponse à : « Ringer & Speaker Phone doesn't work »The loud speaker on the iPhone, which does both phone calls and ringing, is a part of the dock connector.
