This is a great example of planned obsolescence. Shame on Canon. However, it seems like all manufacturers including Epson are playing these games to obsolete a printer after x number of prints. Global efforts to promote right to repair legislation, like ifixit advocates for, is our best hope. In 2025, with the amount of ewaste around the world and use of resources, this should be unacceptable We own a Canon Pixma G3200. It is 5 years old, Bought in 2019. I just emailed Blundstone Canada, because, I was dismayed to read on their website FAQ, Blundstone states: "Once you've worn through the outsole of your boots it's time to replace them. Blundstone outsoles can't be repaired. " This is completely incorrect. I did a search of resoling Blundstones and have found a number of cobblers locally who will resole them. In 2021 with our Climate crisis, I found this very irresponsible. Australia had some of their worst fires in history last year. Billions of animals, including koalas and kangaroos died very painful deaths. All manufacturers should be making their products repairable. I really hope Blundstone becomes a better corporate citizen.
I followed Matt's reset instructions and it worked. Thanks BTW, I found the same info on the Apple Support Communities site, with more detailed info on Resetting the SMC (system management controller). One difference I noted: Matt said hold down power button for 30 seconds. Apple said 5 sec. For the record, I did 30 seconds. It did more than remove that battery service light. My fan used to also run excessively, and now that is fixed too! Worth checking out: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
