Check the fuse located under the dash for your electronic power steering module. If it's okay, then check the harnesses for the module itself for bad connections or corrosion on the terminals. If there are no bad connections, you'll have replace the EPS module itself more than likely.

I had a 1993 Cavalier that would not keep running unless you held the key in the start position. The problem wass the ignition switch, and there was actually a recall for the problem. Not sure if it applies to the 95 models, but you might want to try holding the switch in the start position, and see what happens.

Mayer, I live in a rural area, and have more rabbits, deer, and squirrels on my property than I care to mention! I don't feed them at all, and yet they're still plentiful. If you start feeding them, you may experience a population explosion of the furred kind. If you choose to feed them, plant a garden you care nothing about as far as harvesting any of the produce.. They'll love you for it, and will never leave your side. :)

Hey Quin, I'm going to make an educated guess here and say you probably have a seized pulley on your alternator or one of the other accessories powered by the serpentine belt. The tensioner pulley could also be seized and causing the squealing and stalling problem. If you know how, remove your serpentine belt, and manually turn all the pulleys and the tensioner by hand. If any of them are seized due to bad bearings, it will be obvious. Hope that helps.

Manuel, First we need to make a distinction between "Crank" and "Start". Do you mean the engine does not rotate when you engage the starter via the ignition switch, or that it won't start and run? If it's doing nothing when you turn the key, check for loose connections at the battery and starter. Also check your fuses in the car and under the hood for any that may be blown. If the engine is turning, then you need to check to see if you're getting spark and fuel. Without these two thing the engine will not start.

If you have checked all your fuses and they're good, my best guess would be the plug that goes into the back of your instrument cluster has a bad connection. Try pushing in on the face of the cluster in various spots, and see if that does anything. I had this happen to me one time as well. I bought a used cluster at a salvage yard, and the problem was resolved. Hope that helps, I know car problems are frustrating. :)

If the engine is cranking really slow, the problem is more than likely the battery charge is too low, or the starter itself is dragging. Try jumping it off with another vehicle while you attempt to start it. If it starts, one or the other is your problem. If it's cranking normally, check to see if you're getting fuel and spark.
