Phone Will Not Turn On

My phone will not power on or respond

Double Check

Charge the phone with a charger you know works for a few minutes and make sure that it is not just dead. It may not power on right away but if it doesn’t after fifteen minutes, it is more than just dead.

Remove Battery

Perform a hard reset by removing the battery on your phone. Perhaps the phone itself will turn on but the OS (Operating System) is frozen and the screen won’t light up or respond. To do this you will have to open the phone up and remove the battery. Afterwards, if it is charged, it should power on normally.

Get a New Battery

Your phone battery could also be damaged or dead. In this case, you would have to get a replacement from either online or through your carrier. See our battery replacement guide for instructions.

Perform Factory Data Reset

You may have to perform a factory data reset (NOTE: This will erase all of your apps, media, and system data). To do this, tap the apps tab. From there, tap settings and then tap privacy. From the personal data section, tap Factory Data Reset. Then, tap OK. Tap Reset Phone, then finally Erase All. This will completely wipe system memory.
