Computer Will Not Power On
The laptop will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Faulty Battery
Check to see that the light on the adapter is on. Also check to make sure the adapter is connected to the laptop. If the laptop only powers up when the adapter is plugged in, regardless of charging time, the the battery is faulty and should be replaced.
Faulty Power Adapter
Check to see that the power adapter is plugged in. If it is, then check to see if the light on the adapter is on. If the light is not on and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.
Faulty Power Cable
If replacing the power adapter does not cause the computer to power on, you may need to replace the power cable.
Touchpad Does Not Respond
Your computer turns on and loads properly but your touchpad stopped working/doesn't respond to you using it.
Touchpad is Disabled
Your touchpad may be disabled. To enable it, simply double tap the little dot on the touchpad to enable it.
Outdated Drivers
Drivers tend to update unexpectedly and can cause various parts of the laptop to not perform as expected. Make sure your drivers are up to date.
Faulty Touchpad
If none of the above solutions have worked, then you may need to replace your touchpad.
Doesn't Recognize Fingerprint Reader
You have completed setting up the HP Protect Tools with your fingerprint but the fingerprint reader will not respond or windows won't give you the option to log in with your fingerprint in future uses .
Download Drivers
A common reason the fingerprint reader stops responding is due to the driver being outdated. Check to see if your driver is up to date. If updating the previous driver does not work, update these drivers in the recommended order: chipset, graphics, audio. Be sure to restart your computer after individually installing each driver.
Faulty Fingerprint Reader
If updating your drivers does not resolve your issues, you may need to replace your fingerprint reader.
Display Does Not Turn On
The monitor on your HP displays only a black screen but computer is turned on.
Faulty Display Cable
Check to see if the display cable is loose or not fully plugged in. If the cable is not loose, you should consider replacing the display cable.
Disabled Display
Perform a hard reset/forced restart. If this action does not correct the problem, consider replacing the display.
Computer Will Not Boot Up
Your computer does not load the Operating System and instead takes your to an error message.
Not Enough RAM
If your computer crashes during normal operation, during memory intensive tasks, or beeps and will not boot up, this means you have bad RAM or not enough RAM. Installing RAM should resolve the issue.
Hard Drive Error
Even though you have a hard drive in your computer, there may be an error with it. To resolve the issue, get a Windows DVD for the version that you have. Boot the DVD and choose "Repair Your Computer" then click "next". On the next screen, choose "Startup Repair" and let it run. After this, your HP Probook 4540s should boot correctly. If your computer does not boot correctly and issues persist, you may need to replace your hard drive.
Computer Will Not Read CD/DVD's
Your HP ProBook 4540s will not ready any CD's or DVD's.
Broken/Defective Optical Drive
If your HP optical drive does not open or does not read CD's or DVD's, the optical drive may be broken and needs to be replaced.

my computer frequently goes off and i don't understand my memory is go my hard drive is also good but is goes off frequently !!!!!!!!!!!!

My HP Envy x360 is only 5 months old. Unplugged it to move it temporarily, and now cannot get it to turn on!!

i have a hp office jet J4540 all in one and it will not scan any more .
