Headset Not Detected.

The computer is either not seeing that the device has been connected or it is giving a "USB device not recognized" error.

Incorrect USB Plugged in

The Windows Mixed Reality Headset uses USB 3, and will only work if it's plugged into a USB 3 type port. Ensure that the headset is plugged into a correct USB 3 port.

Outdated Driver

If a driver for the USB isn't installed right or is outdated, the computer may have an issue detecting the device. Open the device manager, go the the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" tab, and uninstall all devices under that tab. When you are finished, restart the computer. The computer should automatically reinstall the USB devices with the correct drivers.

Faulty Wire

If all else fails, it may be a hardware issue due to the wire. If this is the case you will need to replace the wire itself connecting the headset to the computer.

Headset won't wake up.

Upon launching the Mixed Reality Portal, it tells the user "Your headset is sleeping", and the user is unable to wake it up.

Outdated Driver

In the device manager, click action, and then click scan for hardware changes. If there is an update available to your drivers, install them and then restart your computer.

No Picture or Display.

The device does not display image when turned on.

Setup/Installation Issue

You may experience this issue if your device was not properly setup, or the software was not properly installed. In this case, check to see that your computer meets the minimum requirements to run your device. You may need to update your system.

Hardware Issue

Ensure that all connections are secure and there is no damage to headset cables. There may be an issue with your device's display. Inspect lens and all other display hardware for cracks or other damage which may be causing the issue.

Controller Improperly Tracking.

The controllers are not responding correctly to user inputs and/or movements.

The controllers may be in direct sunlight:

try to move to a darker room or an area with no direct sunlight, because sunlight can largely affect the controller connection.

Controllers are out of battery

try replacing the batteries to the controllers and reconnecting them. The controllers will often lose connection when low or close to low on battery.

USB Ports not detected

Upon doing a hardware check of your computer, the headset improperly believes that the computer does not have USB 3.0 ports.

Outdated Driver

In the device manager, click action, and then click scan for hardware changes. If there is an update available to your drivers, install them and then restart your computer.

Faulty Wire

The wire may have an issue actually connecting properly to the computer, resulting in the error. If this is the case, the wire may need to be replaced.
