Battery doesn't charge when connected to a power source.

Make sure that the charger is plugged in and the laptop is taking a charge. If the laptop only powers up when the charger is connected, then the battery may be faulty, and you should consider replacing it.

Make sure the power charger is plugged into the laptop, and the light on the charger is lit. If the light is not lit, then the charger is faulty and needs to be replaced. Consider buying a replacement charger.

Display screen appears black or unresponsive even though the laptop is connected to a power source.

Ensure that the laptop is connected to power and/or has a charge. If the laptop does have a charge and remains unresponsive, then the screen display may be disabled. Restart your laptop and ensure your display was not accidentally disabled.

The failure of a GPU can be the result of multiple problems. The GPU components can fail prematurely due to faulty manufacturing, moisture building up on the card causing component damage, and overheating caused by too much dirt or debris stuck on the cooling-component. Consider replacing the GPU if these problems continue to occur.

Pushing on keys results in no response from the system.

If you notice keys on your keyboard are missing or damaged, then consider replacing them.

Keys usually get stuck because there is debris of some kind underneath the keys. In order to fix this problem, consider removing the keys and cleaning underneath them. Once the area under the keys is sufficiently clean, place keys back in place.

If no keys on your keyboard respond, then the keyboard is most likely faulty. At this point, you should consider replacing your keyboard.

Computer does not load the operating system and leads to an error message.

Hard drive problems can arise at any time, but usually, they happen after the user force shuts off the computer by pressing and holding the power button rather than using the software shutdown sequence provided by the operating memory. Resolving this issue requires getting a Windows DVD. This version does not have to be the same as the current operating system as long as it is a windows operating system. Insert the DVD into your computer, then power it up. Boot to the disc drive that contains the DVD and select “Repair your computer,” then click the next button. From this screen, select the “Startup Repair” option and let it run. While running, your Lenovo ThinkPad T470s may restart a few times automatically. On the final restart, the computer should boot with no drive errors. If your computer still does not boot correctly or still has hard drive errors, you may need to disassemble the computer and replace the SSD.

Problems with RAM can occur during normal operation and memory-intensive tasks. When this happens, your computer may not boot up or may beep in some circumstances. When this happens, it is a sign that you do not have enough RAM or that the RAM you do have is bad. Consider replacing your RAM.

The device gets warm and loud when running for extended periods.

The fan may be running too fast due to insufficient contact between the heatsink and processor due to the lack of thermal paste. This can also occur if there is air between the two components. To correct this problem, clean off all the old thermal paste and then apply a bead of new thermal paste to the center of the processor. After, push the heat sink back in place, lock down the heat sink, and tighten the screws.

Debris like dust and other materials stuck in the vents or fans will cause the computer to overheat. This will occur because the debris won’t allow the fan to work properly. The solution to this problem is to use a compressed air duster to carefully blow the debris off of the vents and fan.
