No Audio When Using Wired Headphones

When using the device's speakers there is audio, however when using wired headphones there is no audio output from the device.

Faulty Headphones

If there is no audio coming out of the headphones, there is a chance the headphones in use are bad. Consider trying a different pair. If this solves the issue, consider replacing the headphones.

Headphone Volume Is Off

If your headphones have a volume adjustment on them make sure the adjustment is set to off. Additionally make sure the volume on the computer is not turned off. Navigate to the bottom right hand side of the screen. Look for the speaker symbol. If there is an “x” next to it this means you have volume off. Finally make sure the mute button on the laptop doesn't have the light next to it lit. If this is the case press it.

Incorrect Audio Output Selected

If your headphones are good your volume is on, and there is still no audio make sure you have the correct output device selected. On the bottom right hand of the screen right click the speaker icon. Select “open sound settings”. At the top of the page under output there will be a drop down box. Make sure the name of your headphones is selected.

Unresponsive Screen Touch Control

The main screen on the laptop is cracked in some way, either a huge one shattering the screen or a minor crack in the side.

Faulty Screen

The main way to get rid of this problem is to completely replace the screen on the laptop. Guide: Changement carte mère Microsoft Surface Book 2 15". This entails opening the laptop, taking out the old screen, buying a new one, and inserting it.

Adding a Screen Protector

If the crack in the screen is not majorly affecting your work, then you may want to consider purchasing a screen protector for your device. This will make it have a smooth surface once again, and protect the laptop’s condition from getting worse for the foreseeable future. If you do not want to replace the screen itself for various reasons, then this is an equally viable solution.

Laptop Overheating, Shutting Down

The laptop keeps generating too much heat for it to handle, and intermittently shuts down due to the access heat.

Programs Taking Up Too Much Of CPU/GPU

It may seem obvious, but before replacing anything you should always restart your laptop. This solves a large amount of computer problems, and it is by far the easiest thing to do.

Out Of Date Software

Out of date software can cause overheating issues. To check if the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is up to date press the windows key. Then click the gear icon labeled settings. On the left side bar select "Windows Updates". If it says " Restart Required" you need to update the software. Click the restart button under the prompt.

Background Applications Using Too Many Resources

By holding the control, shift and escape keys simultaneously, you can open task manager to see if there are any large programs in the background that may be hurting your laptop’s performance. If you see any background programs you are not using taking up a large portion of your CPU, then click on that program in task manager and click end task in the bottom right.

Buy a cooling laptop accessory

Buying a cooling laptop accessory will keep your computer cold for you which can be another way to help solve overheating problems. This one will cost money, but can be found relatively cheap on amazon.

Dust Buildup

Check the vents on the laptop, if they appear to be covered in dust use a can of compressed air to blow out the vents. You can also use a cotton swab to clear the dust out as well.

Poor Battery Life

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 battery drains excessively fast or is unable to hold a charge.

Application Using Too Much Power

There may be a program that is taking up a lot of power usage. A full laptop reset may be the ley to end the task.

Out Of Date Software

Out of date software can cause excessive battery drain. To check if the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is up to date press the windows key. Then click the gear icon labeled settings. Front Camera Not Working

There is no access to the front camera on the Microsoft Surface Book 2. The image appears to be completely black.

Camera Didn't Boot Up Properly

This may seem obvious but you should start out with restarting the Microsoft Surface Book 2. A lot of issues being caused can be corrected with a device restart.

Camera Not Enabled

The front camera might not be turned in in the device manager. To enable it hit the windows key or go to the search bar. Type in "device manager". Once the application is opened up scroll down to the drop down labeled "Cameras". Click the arrow and right click "Microsoft Camera Front" and then click "Enable device".

Application Not Having Access To Camera

The application you are using may not have permission to use the camera. To check this press the windows key or go to the search bar. Type settings, then navigate to privacy, followed by camera . Make sure the slider under "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.

Rear Camera Not Working

There is no access to the rear camera on the Microsoft Surface Book 2/ The image appears to be completely black.
