Air Fryer Won’t Power On
Air Fryer does not turn on to cook or when buttons are pressed on the digital screen.
Air Fryer is Unplugged
The NuWave Brio Fryer has a two-prong power cable that must be plugged into a wall outlet. If the cable is plugged in, make sure the outlet is supplying power by plugging in another appliance.
Basket Incorrectly Inserted
The Air Fryer may not turn on for cooking without a properly inserted basket. Once you have ensured the appliance has been plugged into a working power source, inspect the basket.
The NuWave Brio has a button in the upper left corner of the basket holding chamber. This button will be pressed down when the basket is completely inserted, but may not be pressed down if the basket is incorrectly inserted. If the basket is incorrectly inserted, simply take it out and put it back in again, being mindful of the orientation.
Air Fryer Resting Unevenly or Leaning
The Air Fryer appears to be sitting improperly or crooked, or the appliance leans to one side when it is set upon a flat surface.
Rubber leg(s) missing or improperly installed.
Firstly, inspect the small rubber legs at the bottom of the appliance. There are four of these, arranged in a square on the underside of the Brio. If your appliance is leaning, you may be missing a leg or one may have popped out slightly. Reinsert any legs that may have been displaced. If there is a leg or legs missing, you can purchase replacement parts here.
Appliance resting on uneven surface.
If all legs are present and installed properly and the appliance is still leaning, inspect the surface it is placed on. These appliances are commonly placed on kitchen counters which typically offer a flat, even surface. Look to find such a surface, or one similar without obstructions or other small bumps or indentations, so the device may rest evenly.
Cannot Hear the Fan Spinning When Powered On
When powered on and actively cooking, no audible sound comes from the appliance's fan component.
Debris is blocking the fan
It’s possible that larger pieces of food or other things have gotten caught in the fan, especially if the fryer was handled without care. Follow the first several steps of our fan replacement guide here for instructions on how to gain access to the fan component.
Once accessed, inspect and remove any debris that may cause fan stoppage. For fans with many small blades, you can use pressurized air to clean them. Replace the clean fan component and attempt to use the air fryer once more.
Fan component is loose
After checking and there is no sign of debris try wiggling the fan component to see if it is loose. Using the tools in our replacement guide turn the bolt in the middle of the blade in a clockwise direction to securely fasten the fan component.
Fan component needs to be replaced
If both previous suggestions don’t work and still no sounds come from the fan when in use, it’s time to replace the fan component. Follow our several-step replacement guide here to switch out the fan component with a new one.
Burnt Smell Coming From Air Fryer
When powered on and in use, a burnt smell emanates from the appliance.
Air Fryer has food debris in it
Food can become trapped in the air fryer, leaving a burning smell when cooked further. There may be food particles or spills inside the air fryer burning on the components. Firstly, wait 30 minutes for the fryer to cool, then remove the air fryer basket. Secondly, wash the inside with soap and water and give special attention to the edges of the bottom plate.
Air Fryer has an electrical fault
If after completing the above process, the Air Fryer still smells burnt when turned on, there may be an electrical fault inside of the fryer. Email NuWave at help@nuwavenow.com to see if they can send you a replacement.
Air Fryer Has an Undesirable “New Appliance” Smell
Upon first opening and use of the appliance, a lingering, overly plastic smell exists.
Air Fryer needs to be broken in
If the Air Fryer has not been used yet, it is possible this plastic smell is simply due to it being a new appliance. To get rid of this smell we recommend first running your new appliance for at least 25 minutes without any food inside. After 25 minutes let the Air Fryer cool down for about 15 minutes with the basket open before cooking any food.
Air Fryer needs replacement
A lingering smell of the device or on the food is a common complaint among consumers. If the smell still continues try repeating this process or call NuWave's support email help@nuwavenow.com.
Food is Coming Out Cold or Undercooked, or Otherwise Taking Longer Than Expected
Cooking food takes additional time to complete or food comes out undercooked.
Air Fryer wattage has been changed
If you notice your Air Fryer is taking longer to cook or heat your food, check the wattage your Air Fryer is currently set to. The average wattage for a medium-sized Air Fryer is around 1,200 to 1,400 watts. To change the wattage on your airfryer, press the 'WATT' button found on the digital screen and a red light will shine over the wattage option it is currently set to. Keep pressing the wattage button until the red light moves above the wattage level of your choosing.
