Background and Information

The C/K series is a line of trucks manufactured by General Motors and marketed under the Chevrolet and GMC brands. The C/K line includes pickup trucks, medium-duty, and heavy trucks. From the years 1960 to 1999, all Chevrolet and GMC light-duty pickup trucks were placed under the model name C/K (C for rear-wheel drive, and K for 4-wheel drive). For the 1988-1998 model years, the C/K came in three trim levels: Cheyenne, Scottsdale, and Silverado. The truck came in various different versions, including a 7.4 L V8-powered Super Sport model.

The C/K series was marketed in the United States by Chevrolet from 1960 until 2002. GMC marketed the C/K series from 1960 to 1987. After 1989, General Motors ended the use of the C/K series for medium-duty trucks and replaced the line with the Chevrolet Kodiak/GMC TopKick. C/K trucks included two-door regular cab, two-door extended cab, three-door extended cab, and four-door crew cab body styles. They include a front-engine layout with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

The fourth-generation C/K pickups were released in 1987 for the 1988 model year. From 1988 to 2002, all trim lines of the GMC full-size truck were known as the GMC Sierra.

Chevrolet trucks and cars include the Chevrolet emblem, which is called a “bowtie” logo, has the shape of a cross with elongated arms and a shorter body. Some C/K trucks include the GMC emblem, which includes “GMC” in capital letters, rather than the Chevrolet emblem, depending on the model and its marketing.
