Background and Identification
Drain cleaners are designed to make cleaning out drains easier and more efficient. Drain cleaners can be used to unclog drains or maintain them so clogging does not become a problem. Electric drain cleaners are one of the most popular kinds of drain cleaner. They work by using a blade to remove drain blockage throughout the piping system. These drain cleaners have a cutting blade at the end of a long cable. Once the cable has been inserted into the plumbing system and the machine has been turned on, the blade spins and cuts through drain blockage like a drill carving through wood.
In addition to mechanical devices, a variety of chemicals can be used for drain cleaning. Chemical drain cleaners include alkaline drain openers, acidic drain openers, and enzyme drain cleaners. Instead of removing blockages, these chemical drain cleaners simply break them down and dissolve them so they no longer cause problems.
Drain cleaner tools typically include a cord or waterjet of some form that is used to dislodge drain blockages. They often include a base that attaches to wheels for portability.
