Background
The Marshall Stanmore II was released in 2018 by the Marshall Group, a European audio and tech company based in Stockholm, Sweden. The Stanmore II followed the release of the Stanmore, the first version of their mid-size Bluetooth home speaker.
Named after a significant location in the company’s history, the Stanmore II features a vinyl leather case covering, gold metal plating for the knobs and hardware, and a wooden frame that houses a 50 Watt amplified subwoofer and two 15 Watt amplified tweeters. The volume and equalizing controls can be adjusted using the analog dials on the top panel, or through the Marshall Bluetooth app.
The Stanmore II was advertised as the midrange model for Marshall’s line of plug-in speakers. The Acton II and Woburn II were available alongside the Stanmore II as small and large models, giving the purchaser a range of sizes that can fit in any area of their home or workspace. All three models include the Marshall script logo, salt and pepper fret, and a brass plate with the company’s establishment date of 1962 engraved on the front.
While there are no recalls for the Stanmore II, production has been discontinued since the release of the Stanmore III in 2022. Despite being unavailable through the Marshall website, the Stanmore II can be purchased brand-new through Amazon for $292—an $88 decrease from its original price of $380.
Identification
The Marshall Stanmore II is 7.68" tall, which is about ~2" more than the Action II and ~5" smaller than the Woburn II. The outer casing is black leather with gold metal accents on the speaker grill as well as the top. Directly on the speaker grill, it says "Marshall" in silver metal. It has three control knobs on the top labeled Volume, Bass, and Treble. It also has four round feet on the bottom.
