Background
First available in August of 2009, the Phillips DVP642 DVD Player is a standard disc player capable of playing DVDs, Audio CDs, and Picture CDs. Its selling points include progressive scan and compatibility with DivX file types. It is light on the wallet, but still has great playback quality, perfect for any videophile on a budget!
Identification
The Philips DVP642 can be identified by the label "DVP642" printed on the front of the disc tray. If the label says, "DVP642/37" don't worry, it's the same thing! Also, it should have a label on the upper right front that reads "Progressive Scan". Furthermore, it should say Philips on the front.
