Background
Launched in early 2014, the iRobot Roomba 870 is part of the Roomba 800 series, that consists of the Roomba 860, 870, and 880. Both the 870 and 880 models have been phased out of production and are no longer available from iRobot, however both can still be found on websites such as eBay and Amazon.
Identification
The Roomba 870's most easily identified distinguishing feature in the series is the combination of a dark gray body with a rim of silver trim when compared to the Roomba 860 (silver) and 880 (black). The 870 can additionally be distinguished from the 880 and 900 series robots by its lack of a smartphone app for additional control.
