WD40EURX - how to make them running as internal HDD

Hi

I just bought two WD40EURX (4TB) SATA to replace internal discs in PowerMac G5 7.2. I had a lot of problem to make them formatted and partitioned into two partitions 2x1.8TB using MacBook Air and 10.9.4 in external disk dock. I have formatted them using Apple partition system. Moved them to the PowerMac and booted from DVD. Now I can see only one disk but I cannot use any of partition. When I tried to reformat disk - system hand up. Any idea? Do I need to put jumper to 5-6 pins to lower speed to 1.5?

Options

Yes you will need to slow down the drive to SATA I (1,5 Gb/s) as your systems SATA interface is only SATA I.

You may encounter issues with these larger HD's depending on the OS-X you are using on this system. Review this Apple TN: Mac OS X: Mac OS Extended format (HFS Plus) volume and file limits.

But before you start this project are you sure you want to make this investment on such an old system? Remember this system, OS and apps are not supported any longer. It also is very exposed to internet viruses and trojans if you are using it online.

Hi. I'm using on my PowerMac G5 MacOS 10.5.8. I just want to use this machine as iTunes Server and to have all iPhoto libraries available @ home network only. I have slowed down drives by connecting jumpers 5-6. I've done two partitions - each one is 1.8TB

Still does't work. I cannot install MACOSX on desired partition. Installation is causing FREEZ of the machine with death screen (after 10 minutes)

I don't think this drive can be jumpered to a slower speed. I've looked at what WD has and none in the series have a jumper and I can't find any docs that talk about a compatibility jumper either.
