My phone does not ring, it just vibrates.
I have tried all of the suggestions, none worked. Tech at Metro says that a Dolby Digital Plus may have been activated which he couldn't delete the app.

Hi,
Have you checked the following
1. Touch the Home Key > Menu Key > System settings > Sound.
2. Touch Phone ringtone
3. Scroll through the ringtone list and select the ringtone you want to use.
4. Touch OK to save.
Also check the following
Adjusting Volumes
1. Touch the Home Key > Menu Key > System settings > Sound >
Volumes.
2. Adjust the volume for the ringtone volume
3. Touch OK to save.
Also check that you haven't enabled silent mode with vibrate
Touch the Home Key > Menu Key > System settings > Sound >
Silent mode, and touch Vibrate or Mute.

What you need to do now is prove whether you have a OS or software problem.
My suggestion is to do the following:
1. Ensure the phone's battery is fully charged.
2. Backup the phone using the backup feature.
3. Do a factory restore using the factory restore feature, - this will erase all your downloaded apps and user data and restore your phone to a factory default condition. Like it was when you first bought it.
If the ringtones still don't work after this, it is a OS problem. Check the warranty period of the phone and if still valid contact the manufacturer's customer service section regarding a warranty repair / replacement.
If it works then one of your downloaded apps may have caused the problem, When you restore your phone to what it was, using your backup, if it fails again it is one of the downloaded apps, if not it may have been a setting that wasn't restoring properly and has now cleared..

There's no speaker working and with the headphones the speaker volume is real low.

Have you checked the call forwarding settings in the phone?
Open the Phone app and then select Settings (3 horizontal lines somewhere on the screen)> Call forwarding.
Check which option is selected:
Always forward,
Forward when busy,
Forward when unanswered, this is the one that most people usually have set, but your choice ;-)
Forward when unreachable

Hi Jayeff. Thanks for the input but no go I'm afraid. This no ring, no vibrate happens randomly. A couple of calls will go straight to voice message then a few will be ok. The big mystery to me is that the calls that don't ring do not appear in call history despite the sms alert to call message bank and the voice message being there.

Have you noticed the level of the signal bars (low signal - no signal?) around about the time that this occurs?
It maybe that there is a loss of signal between the phone and the cell tower and the calls get diverted because it cannot be connected.

Again, good thought but most unlikely. Two recent incidents were in strong signal areas. It's wierd. Tomorrow I'm going to check with Telstra who supplied the phone to see if they have any ideas.

My zte zmax pro doesnt say somebody is calling me, when they are calling. For example my dad called me to make sure im awake but it doesnt ring or vibrate and doesnt show he is calling. But my brother calls and it works, and when my dad gets home from work he calls and it works. Why is this happening?

What indication does your Dad get when he makes these calls to you? Does he hear ring tone or nothing or what? Does he let it ring out to make sure that you have enough time to answer?
Have you checked your phone's call logs to see if the call even got to the phone?
If it doesn't show up in the incoming call logs then perhaps the problem is with your Dad's phone or network provider.
How many other people say they have the same problem contacting you? Does your brother ever have a similar problem contacting you?
I have the same problem. My husband and I have the exact same phone but for some reason mine no longer gets calls and he can be right beside me and nothing happens. But I'll have a voicemail from whoever calls me.

Have you checked in Phone app call divert settings to make sure that they are not set to divert i/c calls to voicemail immediately?
I have the same problem, it doesn't ring or vibrate, just a notice I missed the call. I have tried calling it and it doesn't ring, just goes right to voicemail. And of course sometimes it works.
My phone quit ringing for about a month....I tried every fix, until it dawned on me that while cleaning up my phone, I deleted my ringtone app. All the ringtones attached to my people disappeared. I switched from ringtone to music and downloaded a tune to substitute the deleted ringtones, and now my phone rings again.
I have same problem and. Went to the store they can't figure it out either...so f your phone is new and less then three months old and is in perfect condition they will order you a warranty phone. Comes in five to seven work days

If you have the number blocked or spammed by accident you won't get the calls or messages but u will get voicemails (this sometimes happens when you dont have your phone locked or you slip it in a pocket/purse etc.) If you remove them off blocked or spam list it should work fine. Or go to the network settings on your phone and reset them it worked for my husbands phone today and he had bars but no service on the phone because a network configuration problem. Also one time i wasnt getting service for like 4 days all i had to do was take the sim card out and blow the sim card holder out and clean the sim and my problem was solved...Hope this helps someone if not at least i tried. Happy fixing

This happens ALL the time! I am telling you it is really often! I’m over it!!!!!!!! The only resolve is to go to the side button which is how and where you turn off and on phone, there you’ll see a few icons there, one is a speaker icon and mine gets turned off, when I didn’t even do that myself! SO - thats IS the issue! Somehow it gets turned off and then you’re puzzled by why the phone has NO audible ringer working!? Hope this helps, if it’s your issue, This phone is also a low end piece of garbage which is one used for Assurance Wireless, I can tell you, it is a very low quality phone in all ways!

This has to do with missing ringtones. I have a ZTE maven 2 model 851. My phone just upgraded itself to Android 7.1.1 All of a sudden (around the time of the upgrade) most of my sound appeared to go off, but the phone still made its startup sound on power up and a beep when I hit a key. But I had no ringtone when someone would call in, and when I tried to select a new one there was no playing of the ringtone. After a long time puzzling over this I finally went into SETTINGS - SOUND, and noticed DOLBY AUDIO sound enhancement was ON. I had not set this, and had no idea how it got set, so I set it OFF. After this my ringtones came back and everything appears normal, at least as normal for this phone. Hope this helps someone.
