Mainboard failure because of HDD replacement?

Hello,

after the GPU issue, Apple replaced my MacBook Pro 2011 Logicboards. Afterwards I had multiple issues with my MacBook Pro were the Logicboard had to be replaced again and again.

Now the Reseller said that Apple replaced the sensor starting in 2011 were it is possible that after replacing the HDD with a SSD causes the error because the firmware of the harddisk delivers information which are misinterpreted by the MacBook Pro.

I didn't find anything in the internet. Did anyone heard about this problem ?

Hello Mayer,

does this mean the reseller is right ?

Is there any official document ?

I have no idea of what sensor you are referring to. Were you charged for any of these board replacements? Was this an Authorized Service Provider or an Authorized Value added Reseller?

I think the person was thinking you had a desktop system Vs a laptop. The 2011 iMac series did change how the Apple dealt with HD thermal monitoring. Nothing here in the MacBook Pro models to worry about.

You do want to follow Mayer advice on changing the SATA cable.

Hello mayer, hello Dan,

this was an Authorized Service Provider which replaced the Logicboard overall 3 times during the first 90 days. All of them because the mac book freezed and I shows 0,8 cm colored quadrangles, this only happen if the MacBook Pro is on more that 24 hours.

About the graphic issue, do you think it makes still send ?

Do you speak german ?

I would call Apple directly in Germany. Clearly, they have not fixed it. You still have a logic board failure with the graphics which has nothing to do with the SSD or the SATA cable. Make sure you have copies of all your service trips as you will need them to prove to Apple the ASP was unable to repair your system.

Another known issue but not admitted by Apple is the high rate of failure of the Hard Drive/IR cable. Here's how to replace it, also get the cable from the 2012 `5" model: Remplacement du câble du disque dur/capteur IR du MacBook Pro 15" Unibody début 2011 Here's the cable: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable
