different types of key mechanisms in the 2 A1342 models?

Hello. I work at a school where we have a mix of late 2009 and mid 2010 unibodies. My question is I'm almost certain there are 2 separate types of key mechanisms for these models. Are the 2 different types used in both models and if yes is there a way to tell without popping a bunch of keys off.
