MacBook Pro turns off when applying light pressure to case

I have this issue with my mac, and its that when i apply slight pressure to the case some black squares appear on screen and will turn of or freeze completely.

Already performed this troubleshooting.

1. Opened the MacBook and check for any damage.

2. Noticed that once the lower case door is removed I see that the area near the RAM slots i slightly pressed the issue appears.

3. Tested different RAM modules, even new ones.

4. Loose a little the screws of the RAM slots.

5. Transferred the motherboard to a different housing

6. Removed the thick stickers between the RAM module and the keyboard and also this same sticker from the back door.

MacBook will operate properly if no pressure is applied, but if you close the screen you can see the black squares.

Any updates on this? I I have a 13" 2012 MBP that is doing the same thing. I too removed the. pad under the RAM slots because it started to have a super strong smell.. lol. Now I'm having this problem. I find it odd that. RAM might cause this but I'll try these things tonight?

Why would the nylon pad cause this?

Jed, did you resolve this problem. I also have this problem. The last ressort was to buy new RAM but not sure

There's a few possibilities here. The first is the nylon pad on the mid frame has come off (green outline). Make sure its present and the bottom cover is not caved in.

As you commented on pressing on the uppercase likewise causes issues, you may have a cold solder joint from the PCH chip's LVDS connection point as well as the LVDS connector and LVDS display cable.

The 13" models use the onboard graphics services within the CPU (Intel HD Graphics 4000)

Thanks for the quick reply. yes the nylon pad is there.

I forgot to add that if only one RAM chip is installed the one that goes on top there is no issue at all, no matter how much force i apply. But if i install the same or other RAM on the lower slot, the issue is persistent.

Thats not good ;-{

Its possible your logic boards RAM socket traces/solder joints are failing on that slot. Try unscrewing the connector frames screws a 1/4 turn to see if relaxing the tension fixes things.

Thanks Dan, already tried that, issue persist.

You'll need to run the system with just the one socket then, or replace the logic board.
