Used my iPhone X in the pool, now display wont work!

I have already tried rebooting it and what not but my display simply won't turn on. It just shows up as black. I already let my phone sit in a bag of rice overnight, anything I can do to fix this?

PS - the phone works, I can feel the vibrations when i tap the buttons in the lock screen.

I'll start by saying that the iPhone X is water resistant and not water proof. These phones were never designed to be used under water.

In your case, it sounds like the backlight or backlight circuit was damaged. This could be screen related or logic board related. However, with water damage, you have to decontaminate the logic board before doing anything else, otherwise there will be latent issues down the road.

The rice myth kills too many phones! Let’s track this down together. This is a useful troubleshooter with common solutions for iPhones that are nonresponsive.

The water is inside the phone, on the logic board and under the shields, even under the IC's. The rice is nowhere near where the water is. So while it “may’’ soak up some water vapour, the real problem is the mineral deposits that can cause short circuits or the corrosion that is taking place as the water evaporates. Leaving the power on the device accelerates the process. The longer you let a phone sit in rice, the more time you are giving corrosion to damage your logic board. The saltier or harder the water is, the more damage will occur.

The iPhone X has a sandwiched logic board which makes it virtually impossible for a proper DIY decontamination but you can still try to follow most of these guidelines.

  • Open your phone and remove the logic board (follow these guides)
  • Inspect the logic board, especially around the connectors and look for corrosion.
  • Inspect both sides of the board. Unfortunately, most of the board is covered in shields. That's usually where the damage is occurring.
  • Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while.
  • Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.
  • Rinse in alcohol and repeat.
  • Let it air dry for a day.
  • Re-assemble and hope for the best.

A professional repair shop that does water damage repair may be able to recover your phone or the data because they have access to pro-level ultrasonic baths and specialized cleaners as well as the skills to troubleshoot your board. Many shops have a no fix/no fee policy so you don't have to spend money to find out if the phone is fixable or not.

This was literally my exact problem, but i dropped my iPhone X in the shallowest part of the pool. The screen is now black and completely doesn't work, but it still makes the charging sound and earlier the notification sound/ buzz. I tried putting it in rice and then charging it. This did not work. I still haven't figured out what the problem was with the phone though. Any help or idea what happened to my phone would be greatly appreciated.

Water was leaked into the camera and my phone is now completely black. But I do feel and hear the vibrations from charging and pushing buttons what do I do I do not know how to move the logic board and I’m afraid I might make it worse if I try to do so

Under any circumstances do not do anything by yourself, go to a phone repair shop and will tell you all the info you need. I recommend UbreakiFix (had a similar problem and they were the only place that helped, now my phone works fine)

Ok so I was out of town and I went swimming but I didn't take my meds so I was doing dumb stuff then if I don't take my meds I'm not focused and off task so I was off my meds and went swimming in a chlorine pool and my body was in the water and I had one hand in the air trying to record myself swimming underwater with my phone in the air but when i went under i lost control of my hand and as soon as i went under my phone like the bottom part where the charging apartment is and the speaker that part got wet then it starting doing dump stuff clicking apps on its own but it was working i was still able to see my phone but it was just getting started to act dumb so it started clicking different apps and calling people without me touching the screen and i just held the phone in my hand and watched it happen so now phone is stuck on a green screen but its like i can still the time, how much charge my phone has, but i can click or do nothing

here is the video but I'm recording on a Chromebook so sorry for the bad quality The video is down below but in this video you will kinda see the keyboard and the battery and the data on how many bars I have.

@zdope123 it sounds most likely that you've killed the screeen. Assuming you didn't get a significant amount of water inside, it would probably be worthwhile for you to go ahead and replace the screen then see where you are after you get it working again. Here's how.
