Tiny Red dots on my display

Hello,

I have a U32H850 Samsung 4K monitor and suddenly red dots are showing up all over the place. I took the case off and reseated all but one cable (was worried I might damage it) with no luck. Can anyone guide me on what part may have failed that is causing this so I can order a replacement?

Hi @tnerb11

Does altering the red colour adjustment in the monitor's Settings improve the picture, you didn't say?

par

@jayeff No, adjusting the red from 0 through 100 results does not mitigate the issue.

Is this only on your taskbar? If so, try changing themes and see if it persists. If it's only on that portion of the screen, it's not a hardware issue.

Hello, I experienced the same, having 2x U32J590 display connected to my laptop: One of them was showing those annoying, fluctuating red dots over dark areas. Then I realized, that that panel was connected by 2 ways - both Display Port and HDMI. When I disconnected the DP cord, the issue disappeared.

Hi,

It seems then that the Chroma chip on the tcon board may be faulty.

Try sourcing a replacement tcon board from a supplier that has a no questions asked returns policy or at least a returns policy with only a small restocking fee so that the cost will be minimized if it turns out not the be the cause of the problem

Thank you! I'll do that. Where can I find the specific SKU that I need to order for this device?

@tnerb11

If you mean the Chroma chip I don't know.

It is easier to just replace the tcon board.

Look for the board number printed on the board and then search online for "(insert board number)"

Alternatively search for "Samsung U32H850 tcon board" but make sure its' board number exactly matches the board number on your board or that the supplier will guarantee that it is compatible with your model TV if it doesn't.

@tnerb11 Hi Please, before you go ordering parts, try switching Themes! What gets me, is that these dots only show up on your Taskbar, if the Chroma was buggered, it should be the entire screen and not just one portion of it. This is an odd situation, but to me it looks like it "could be" a corrupt .css file for this desktop theme. Good luck, Stay safe!

@Chappy it is impacting the most of the screen.
