Unable to find MacBook Pro (2015) ssd to usb or ssd unclosure

I am trying to recover the SSD from a water damaged 2015 macbook pro 13 inch 2015. I have gotten the drive out and the SSD is of course proprietary using a 11+14 pin form factor.

I would really like to just get some kind of USB adapter or a cheaper enclosure.

this enclosure seems to work but I’m wondering if there is anything cheaper and easier. I have search all over the web using a ton of different keywords so Ideally someone else had this exact same problem and figured it out at a cheaper price lol.

I have a few of the OWC Envoy cases to serve my customers. They are really the only ones that have spent the effort to create the needed adapter to house Apples custom blade SSD’s. And yes they are not cheap! But keep in mind how few they are likely to sell I’m sure they are not getting rich selling them.

The best you can do is look for one on eBay (used) as often people only need the adapter once.

There are other adapters to reuse the SSD within a PCIe adapter board but that won’t allow you to gain access to the files as the Windows OS won’t let you access the files (APFS file system). You might be able to gain access from within a new Mac Pro, I doubt you have access to one through ;-{

I bit the bullet and just bought one. I was doing data recovery for a friend. So if all goes well they can just plug the enclosure into their new computer
