System woken go to sleep when I close the lid
I have the problem that when I close the lid it will not go to sleep at all.
In fact, if I put the computer to sleep and close the lid it will spring back to life. So, I don’t think my sensor is completely faulty. But, I do believe it is functioning backwards?
I also don’t completely understand your testing method. I would appreciate a more in-depth instruction.

From what you described here I think you have a different problem!
The Hall sensor senses the magnet held in the lid so when you close the lid the sensor fires off, at which point the computer knows to turn off the display and the keyboard backlight.
The test is just emulating the lids magnet to make sure the sensor works as well as the magnet is in the correct location as some displays have the magnet in a different location so it won't meet up with the sensor!

Do you have any more thoughts as to what it could be? I asked reddit and someone suggested that my magnet polarity is reversed.

The Hall sensor only senses the magnetic flux it does not detect the fields direction.
How about posting a video so we can see clearly what you are encountering Ajout d'images à une question existante
