MacBook Pro 2015 13-inch, left shift key stuck after battery replacem

Good morning, We have successfully replaced the MacBook Pro 13-inch battery.

However, there was no problem at first, but after about a week after the replacement, the left shift key does not work.

If you just turn on the power, it is connected in safe mode. In the safe mode, the password to access the computer is also entered while the shift is pressed, so the connection is not possible. So, when booting, press the option -r key to connect normally. However, if you connect like this, you cannot use the left shift key on the computer. Maybe it's a motherboard problem?

In my opinion, I’m worried that the adhesive agent used to remove the battery is on the motherboard. Is there any way?

I would like to know which part of the main board is the left shift part.

Please help!

I don’t see your issue is related to the logic board, it would be very difficult for you to damage it with the solvent. You could have damaged a component in the process of prying the battery out. But even that wouldn’t effect only one key on your keyboard.

Now looking at solvent dripping down into the keyboard which is just on the other side of the logic board. That is also not likely unless you flooded things letting the solvent to drip through the few gaps in the uppercase. Even still you would have encountered an issue right away as the solvent would have evaporated leaving the keyboard in a bad state within an hour at most.

So where does that leave us??

Sadly, I think you just encountered a failed key issue independently of your battery replacement. Let’s dig a bit deeper into what’s happening with the given key. Using an external keyboard open your Systems Preferences > Keyboard. Now check on ‘Show keyboard and emoji viewers in menu bar’

Now clicking on the menu bar icon and sliding down to Show Keyboard Viewer You’ll have access to it

As you can see here I’ve enabled the Caps Lock, check your Shift key does it work at all?

Update (01/15/2021)

Sadly, it’s time to replace the keyboard

This is not an easy job! You’ll need to strip the system down to get to the uppercase following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Upper Case Replacement

Once you are this point you have two directions swapping out the uppercase with a new keyboard (the easier direction) MacBook Pro 13" Top Case & US Keyboard, Apple P/N 661-02361 or carefully lifting the backlight assembly (black sheet) to gain access to the screws and rivets which hold the keyboard MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2013-Early 2015) Keyboard this is quite hard!

Thank you for your kind answer. As a result of checking with the virtual keyboard after activating the Emoji Viewer, all the other keyboards were fine, but only the left shift key was not pressed. What is the problem? When I disassembled the main board earlier, there was a little moisture. I am worried if there is such an effect. I cleaned it up again, but it's still stuck. It's very difficult.

@hopely - Sounds like you has a liquid spill into the keyboard. Is it water or something else?

par

Um...in fact, I have never spilled water or any other liquid on the keyboard. However, I am worried because such a problem occurred after replacing the battery. One thing to point out is, I'm worried that the liquid used to remove the battery adhesive might have gotten into it. If so, how can this be solved?

par

@hopely - Solvents evaporate quickly! If you still saw liquid that was not the solvent.

par

Yes. When I revealed the logic board, there was a black moisture left. And when I wiped the black cover under the logic board, it turned white. Maybe it's something other than a solvent. Is there any chance that it will become an adhesive liquid and cause problems?

Go to Control Panel - power settings.  Go to the advanced settings, expand the Sleep entry, and disable sleep and hibernate on each of the options. Restart the computer to get the computer unstuck .

thanks

check , flex connector for keyboard , make sure it is connected properly,

also check to make sure that the keyboard flex connector is not damaged.also try to remove all screws holding the battery in place, then try to power on , if one screw is over tightened , this may cause too much pressure on keyboard,

Thank you for caring me. By any chance, I also changed the parts that passed when replacing the battery a little loose. Still, the problem is not solved at all. It's stupid. It is not another key, only the left shift key is a problem. So, when you press the power boot, you are connected to the safe mode at all, and the password cannot be used while the shift key is pressed.
