Screen Backlight not working...

Just as the title says. The literal day after the warranty period was over, the backlight stopped working.

Microsoft told me, on the phone and at store level. “You should've bought the extended warranty. Buy a new one, right over there!”

The screen still works, as does the touch screen. I hooked up an external monitor, nothing wrong in the BIOS and Windows. Just the backlight doesn't work.

So I ordered a replacement from ifixit. I swapped the screens, and same issue with a brand new one!

2 days before 1year anniversary. ID light has been out for a few days. Went out awhile back and turning laptop off and restarting fixed it but not this time. 2nd surface I have owned and if warranty is not effective a MAC will be in my future.

Yeah, seems to be a common issue. The Backlight power ic is located somewhere on the mainboad (i've got no schematics, so not 100% sure where)
So, when this ic dies, even a brand new display will do nothing.

I've seen a Video on yt where some guy has replaced this ic for go1, sadly there's no further information on this one.
