After replacing the hard drive. All went well BUT -now my mic does not work. It's the single hole on the bottom. Any ideas anybody? I made sure the hole was not covered up.

I'm sure you have a simple problem! Many tape setups sold failed to address the needed gap for sound to reach the mic. Review Step 3 in this guide iMac Intel 21.5" Retina 4K Display (2017) Adhesive Strips Replacement Sadly once the tapes are are you can't really reuse them so you'll need to get a fresh set iMac Intel 21.5" (2012-2019) Adhesive Strips

Thanks Dan for your reply. Yes I had to open it up again and saw immediately the problem. I did in fact hide the mic with the tape. As there are 3 holes- One in the middle is the mic. I had an extra set of tape and this time cut the 4R tape in area around the 3 holes, maybe 1/2 inch in width. So none of the 3 holes have any adhesive. I doubt all but that tiny section will cause the screen to fall. Anyway put it all back together and the mic is working fine.
