GE microwave makes rattling noise model PEB7227

My GE Profile Model PEB7227 microwave makes a lot of rattling noise when running. I removed the glass turntable and it still makes the noise. I tried shooting a few drops of silicone oil into the area where the plastic thing-a-mabob fits tht drives the turntable and it still makes a horrible rattling noise. So, at this point I belive the drive motor is defective. The unit is only a little over a year old but is out of warranty.

Any suggestions on how to replace the motor or where to get the repair manual?

Hi @genecorbin,

What is the full model number of the microwave oven?

Asking because there are 9 models beginning with PEB7227 and they don't all use the same turntable motor.

There should be another 5 letters and numbers after PEB7227 e.g PEB7227AN1DD, PEB7227SL1SS etc

The full model number is: PEB7227DL3BB, mfg 4/21, SN GS230587A

I can't find a service manual but here's a parts diagram that may help to gain access to the turntable motor.

The turntable motor is part #1510 in the diagram.

Looking at the diagram the motor is mounted on the base plate but then again a few other components are as well, so it may not be a case of just removing the base plate to get to the motor if you get my drift.

The GE part number for the motor is WB26X32190 (supplier examples only). Search online using the manufacturer's part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

Be safety aware when working in microwave ovens. The HV capacitor can store >5000V DC for months, even if the power to the oven has been disconnected for this length of time. This amount of voltage can seriously injure you. The HV capacitor needs to be discharged correctly, as soon as it is accessible after the oven's cover has been removed and before commencing any further work in the oven.
