Difficult

Mon problème

I have used my laptop for 7 years, primarily as a desktop computer, but with convenience of laptop on vacation to to school. Recently, I went to close it to take in my backpack and it wouldn’t fully close; it was then I noticed the area under trackpad was badly bulging. I’m glad I didn’t wait longer to find it out the hard way when the battery burst, possibly severely injuring myself or family.

Ma solution

I was nervous working with the battery area given how swollen they were and with my previous attempt at replacing the battery in old iPhone that got punctured while I was removing and started a fire and destroyed the phone. But, with the repair guide from iFixIt, I felt more confident, I just needed to go slow and follow the steps. It was estimated taking 2 hours, but it only took me 45 mins. The laptop now closes as it should and I got more life out of it now as a result.

Mon conseil

I recommend the kit that is available with the battery, I had the screwdrivers already, but the plastic cards and the glue remover were the tools really needed to do the job right. I’m not sure why the battery adhesive from Apple is so strong, it isn’t necessary in a sealed box, but I digress. iFixIt replacement fit perfectly and seems to be holding up well.
