Background
The Sonos Play:1 was released on October 2013 by the American company Sonos. It was founded in 2002 by John Macfarlane, Tom Cullen, and Trung Mai. The creators of this device also designed other wireless technologies.
Sonos Play:1 is their most compact wireless speake. You can use any of the Sonos controllers with your speaker. The Sonos wireless system creates a Sonos network. You can connect using a wired line (Ethernet) or a wireless connection (WiFi). All Sonos devices use internal speakers to amplify the sound from an external device using the Sonos application. The Sonos Play:1 may be used on any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer through the Sonos app.
Identification
You can identify your The Sonos Play:1 by the model number PLAT1US1BLK. The Play:1 is black and gray and cube-shaped. The SONOS logo is printed along the edge of the top of the speaker, just below the control buttons. You can find the model and serial numbers printed on the bottom of the device.
