Mid-2009 MacBook Pro Not Charging

I was just wondering if someone could help me determine whether the issue I am having is related to the battery or if its a conduct issue relating to the logic board/charging port. The laptop is not charging or turning on.

1) The issue has not been solved through an SMC reset, cleaning the charging port, or using a different charging cable.

2) When I press the charging indicator on the side, I see one circle light up.

3) When I plug in a charger, there is no green light. When I unplug the battery and plug in the charger, there is still no green light.

As such, will getting a new battery help with the issue or is this likely due to the logic board/charging port? My battery is from Mid-2009 and has a high cycle count. Also,

While you may have cleaned the MagSafe connections you may still have a bad MagSafe connector. Review this Apple T/N: Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters to make sure the connectors are in good shape. Also make sure you're using the correct MagSafe adapter.

If the connections are good I would try a second MagSafe adapter to eliminate the charger. Do make sure you get a 'Real' Apple unit! There are a few fakes out there and they will damage your computer! Counterfeit Macbook charger teardown: convincing outside but dangerous inside

If the computers connection is suspect you can replace the DC-In Board following this IFIXIT guide: Remplacement de la carte de raccordement MagSafe du Macbook Pro 13" Unibody mi-2009.

Even still the charging logic which controls the way power is directed can be damaged. This logic is on the main logic board. This for most is beyond what they can handle best to find someone with the needed deeper skills & tools.

Thank you very much.

The battery is showing one green light on the side bar - but it is for all intensive purposes dead because there is not enough juice to turn the laptop on.

Also, I know that the charger is not the problem because I went to Apple and they used a genuine charger and it also did not work.

I'm just wondering if buying a battery is a waste of time (i.e. it will just result in the same problem). I do not think I can do much more with the logic board at this time because I did a similar replacement last time and completely ruined one of the connections.

unfortunately with macbooks, the most efficiant way to diagnose a problem is trial and error.

start by verifying proper voltages across the two V+ nodes vs the gnd. this should read aroung 16.5V

(replace Charge if not)

after this, verify that this same voltage is recognized on the Logic board by the corrisponding nodes when the board is plugged in.

(replace port on logic board if not)

ensure proper voltages are coming out of battery leads when device is plugged in without battery.
