I have accidentally cracked my 2017 27" Retina iMac and actually have a 2015 27" Retina iMac. Wondering if anyone has any insight as to whether I could replace the 2017s display with the 2015?

The 2015 iMac screen is not compatible as it’s just a standard Retina not a 5K Retina screen. The cable connection between the logic board and display needs to carry many more lines of data.

this is a late 2015 Retina 5k iMac, A1419 EMC 2834
@hfosteriv - Let compare the displays of the two 5K displays:
The late 2015 P/N 661-03255 and the LG P/N LM270QQ1 (SD)(B1)
And for the 2017 P/N 661-07323 and the LG P/N LM270QQ1 (SD)(C1)
So they do appear to be the same from the LG perspective the last code is the screens brightness as the 2017 has a higher NITS value.
interesting, I will do this over the weekend and post the results - I am not afraid of a little adventure!
@hfosteriv - Make sure to review the guide and use the special cutter as you can damage the display if you are the careful and besides you’ll need a fresh adhesive tape kit
