Hi @shingle

This is the best option for what to do with bread that you cannot eat within a few days

I should imagine neither option you suggested would work, especially using glue as I don't know of any glue that would be safe to consume. At least not the amount that would be needed to glue a loaf back together again

@shingle, I am a strong supporter of reusing and repurposing things. I would suggest that you apply this type of glue generously between the cutline you left when you sliced the bread. Let it sit for a bit to really let the "glue" dry. Once cried, slice the bread at 90deg. angle to where the original cuts were. Now you could make the "glue" bond stronger by using a toaster oven to cure it for a few minutes. Just my 2 Pfennig

If you are allergic to that glue, give this one a try non-allergic glue

I enjoy both!

Keep promoting the Vegemite and we'll make you an honorary Aussie.

Most others don't know how we can eat the stuff.

Cheers

@jayeff - I took the train to Alice to visit Uluṟu many years ago! In the high heat it’s a great way to get some salt! It does take a bit to get use to it! I still have a jar left! No different to trying out Moxie which I can’t stand at all.🤘

@shingle How about making it into some bread and butter pudding? The German equivalent is the "Ofenschlupfer", one of my best childhood food memories: Put the slices in a bowl. In another bowl, mix some eggs with milk, sugar and cinnamon and pour the mixture over the bread till covered. Leave to soak till the bread is all soft and mushy. Rub a casserole dish with a little butter, put a layer of bread at the bottom and then add a layer of cut up apples and raisins, then add some more bread and push it all down a bit so there are no gaps. Add some little pieces of butter on top and some brown sugar if you want. Bake at 180°C till nicely browned. Enjoy with a little custard or cream.

Instead of the apples, you can also use plums or cherries. And if you mix in some almonds or hazelnuts, it gets even better!
