Battery Not Charging

If your charger is plugged in and the charging light is not flashing/on then this could mean that the charger itself has an issue. If after you plug in your laptop to the charger, it turns off or runs out of power quickly, then the laptop's battery may be faulty.

Charger is Broken

  • Try plugging a different charging device that is still compatible with the laptop.

Battery is Broken

  • You can check the health of your battery by opening “ Lenovo Power Manager". If you do not have this software installed, you can download it here.

Damaged/Dead Internal Charging Circuit

  • If the above methods do not work, the internal charging port or fuse in the device is most likely broken. If this is the case it will need to be replaced. Since you will need a soldering tool and have experience in problem tracing and smoldering, your best bet is to swap out the motherboard. To swap out the motherboard you can follow out guide here.

Keyboard Not Working

Your keyboard may experience issues after time such as some keys not working, keys having delays, or not working at all.

Device needs a System Restore

  • After backing up your important files, restart your computer and when the IBM logo appears, press the "Access IBM" button on the top of the keyboard. Choose the "ThinkPad Product Recovery Program" and then press F11.

External Keyboard Not Working

  • If you are using an external keyboard, press FN+F5. This will turn on your devices Bluetooth.

Network Not Connecting

If you open your internet browser and the page says it is unable to connect, you could be having WiFi issues.

WiFi disabled

  • If the WiFi indicator below the screen is not on, press Ctrl + F5 to enable the WiFi.

WiFi is not connected

  • If your WiFi is enabled but not connected, open the "Network and Internet Connections" screen from the start menu. Go to the properties tab under "Wireless Network Connection", and check the box labeled "Use Windows to Configure My Wireless Network Setting".

Router Issues

  • Check to see if the router is plugged in and is on. If this still does not work you should call your network provider to check your connection.

No Sound from Computer

If your computer has stopped making sound, you may be having issues with the speakers or audio jack.

Sound is Muted

  • Press the volume mute button to check if the computer is muted. This will turn on the sound if the computer was previously muted.

Audio Driver Issues(reinstall drivers)

  • To download the audio drivers for your laptop go to this website to download the most up to date audio drivers.

Dead Pixel

A dead pixel can be noticed on the screen by a pixel on the screen always being off.

Screen needs to be replaced

  • A dead pixel does not affect the process of the laptop and is only a visual issue. To fix this the screen needs to be replaced. To replace the screen, click on the Link here.

Overheating

If the bottom of your laptop is warm, not making sound, and the laptop itself is slower than usual, your laptop is overheating.

Blockage in fan

  • To clear the blockage from the fan you will need to remove the keyboard. Follow the instructions from the IBM ThinkPad t43 WiFi Card Replacement up until step number **. At this point, you will be able to see the fan and can easily clear any debris.

Fan is broken

  • If the fan is not spinning, go to IBM ThinkPad t43 WiFi Card Replacement and follow the procedure in up to step ***. Next, you will have to remove three screws located in the middle to the slight right of the fan. Finally, you will have to unplug the fan and then you will be able to remove and replace it.
