Dell XPS 18 Troubleshooting

The device will not start.

If the computer's battery isn't charged enough, the computer won't turn on. Try charging your device by plugging the power supply into the computer's power jack, located at the bottom center of the device. Make sure the power supply is securely plugged into both the device and the outlet.

The device turns on, but there is some issue preventing initial, or continued use.

Sometimes the computer will turn on while the charger is plugged in, but shut off when unplugged, regardless of how long it's been left to charge. If this is happening to your device, its battery may be damaged and require replacement. You can use this guide to replace it.

The device's speakers have distorted or no sound.

When sound from a computer's speakers is distorted in some manner such as: popping, muffled, scratchy, or non-existent, when playing music or watching videos, one or both of the device's speakers may be faulty. The device won't connect to wireless internet.

If your computer turns on and starts up as usual, but won't connect to any Wifi signals when you want to connect to the internet, something may not have loaded properly while the device was starting. Locate your device's power button on the upper-right side of the screen, press and hold the button until the device's screen goes black. After about one minute, press the power button once more to restart your device.

If your computer turns on and starts up as usual, but won't connect to any Wifi signals when you want to connect to the internet, and you've restarted the device multiple times, your device's wireless WLAN card may be faulty. The wireless WLAN card allows the device to connect to Wifi signals, and if it's faulty, the device may be unable to connect to the internet wirelessly. The device turns on, but doesn't respond when touched

If your computer turns on and starts up as usual, but doesn't respond when you touch the screen, something may not have loaded properly while the device was starting. Locate your device's power button on the upper-right side of the screen, press and hold the button until the device's screen goes black. After about one minute, Press the power button once more to restart your device.

If your computer turns on and starts up as usual, but doesn't respond when you touch the screen, and you've restarted the device a few times, your device's touchscreen may be faulty. One or both of the device's support feet are faulty.

If the support feet that fold out from the bottom of the device are damaged, they may need replacement. Since they are partially secured with magnets, it may be possible to delay replacement by using the support feet with caution.
