sophia, it does sound like a bad LCD. Post an image of what you see with your question, use [ [guide|21499]|this guide] for that. First thing you want to do is to connect an external monitor to see if that displays the same image. If it does, than you are having trouble with your GPU. If the external monitor display correctly you are having most likely a bad LCD on your laptop. Let us know what you find.
