You can change the time-out period, or disable auto power off altogether, through the camera's menu, as follows:
# Press the [MENU] button
# Use the Main Dial (the wheel next to the shutter button) to select the Tools tab (the fifth tab)
# Select the Auto Power Off menu item with the Quick Control Dial (the wheel on the back of the camera), press the [SET] button (the button in the center of the wheel).
# Use the Quick Control Dial to select the Auto Power Off time-out you want, or disable the feature by selecting [Off], then press the [SET] button.
# Press the shutter button halfway to exit the menu.
