Think I have developed an LCD cable problem

I was wondering if anyone can help me diagnose a problem. The issue is still in its early stages, but when I move the screen of my Lenovo Y500 I get strange flickering. Basically the backlight remains on and the picture is more or less correct, but with fuzzy distortions. It's still fairly possible to find a position which gives a clear picture, but the problem is progressing. At its worst there is a purple/ blue cast to the screen.

I don't know all that much about the insides of laptops -- is this likely to be a dodgy cable of some sort?
