I just had this problem with our camera and found the solution in another thread. Even if your batteries are brand new, make sure they are very high quality batteries, not just standard Duracell or Energizer.  Put in 4 brand new standard batteries, kept shutting down. Dug out 4 fancy batteries (I think they were Duracell long last?) Worked perfectly.
