Why is there no backlight?

Texte:

So, recently I started to replace the glass on an iPad. the way the glass was brown the digitizer didn't work and the volume/mute/lock ribbon cable was severed. I got the glass but I haunt gotten the ribbon cable. The display was working fine and I disconnected it to remove the ribbon cable. Upon plugging it back it there is no backlight on the display. There is no water damage and no damage on the logic board, the display just stopped working. Do you think that when I get the ribbon cable and can reconnect the lock button, a reset will fix it? I did accidentally turn it on once while the display was off. I have never had this problem before and it is puzzling.

EDIT

...and i forgot to mention that the unit wasn't fully off when the cable was removed because the lock/power button didn't work.
