Acer Aspire 5742 LCD Panel Replacement

Passez à l'étape 1If your screen is cracked or non-functional you have two options:
- You can replace the entire laptop lid assembly including the LCD panel, web cam, microphone, WiFi aerials, case and hinges. You may wish to do this if the plastic case is damaged. See Acer Aspire 5742 Screen Assembly Replacement.
- If only the LCD panel needs replacing then you can do just this as described in this guide. There is much less preliminary disassembly to do, but bear in mind that the LCD is delicate and you need to take care not to crack your new one.
If the problem is simply that the screen is blank though undamaged as far as you can see, there is a small chance that the video cable needs reseating either at the motherboard or at its connection behind the LCD panel.
The photos in this guide show the lid assembly separated from the laptop body, but this is not necessary.

Move the battery catch to the "unlocked" position.

Pull back the second spring-loaded battery catch until the battery pops up.

Remove the battery.

Open the laptop lid as far as it will go. Using a small craft knife or similar, remove the two black adhesive screw covers on either side of the screen at the bottom, by inserting the tip of the blade under the edge of the cover.

Remove the 2 screws now revealed.

Separate the bezel around the screen by using a jimmy or similar tool to release the clips holding it in place. Work around both sides and the top. Finally, turn the laptop on its side in order to work along the bottom. You should now be able to lift off the bezel.

Remove 2 screws from the bottom of the LCD panel.

At the top of the LCD panel, remove the 2 screws furthest from the corners. Support the panel as you remove these screws.

Very gently angle the LCD panel forwards and lay it face down.

Gently lift the transparent adhesive film covering the video connector on the back of the LCD panel, and disconnect the connector.

You can now completely remove the LCD panel.
